Self-Help

On this page, you can access information that will help you find legal assistance and represent yourself in some legal matters. This site cannot provide legal advice, as laws in Ohio prohibit employees of the court or the judge to dispense legal advice. However, you may consult with an attorney to discuss legal issues even though it is not required that an attorney represent you in Court.

When you choose to represent yourself, as is your constitutional right, you are referred to as a “pro se” or “self-represented” litigant. You are acting as your own attorney. It is your obligation to understand your rights and responsibilities as a citizen and as a party in any case. Resources such as brochures, self-help forms, instructional packets and other public information materials are available to you to provide guidance in court proceedings.

Resources for accessing the court system interpreters for non-English speaking and hearing impaired citizens can also be found on this site.
